Mārtiņš Makars, former Deputy Head of Inčukalns UGS, appointed as the Head of Inčukalns UGS

On the 22th of January, Mārtiņš Makars was appointed as the Head of Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage (UGS) managed by the unified natural gas transmission and storage system operator Conexus Baltic Grid (Conexus). M. Makars was previously the Deputy Head of the storage, thus ensuring successful continuation of the works started.

M. Makaras has almost 20 years of experience in the gas industry working at Inčukalna UGS. In 2004, he started working as a control instrument technician in the Gas Compressor Service, later continuing as an engineer for several years. From 2014 to 2021, he was the Head of the Gas Deposit Area Service, and from January 2022 he was the Deputy Head of Inčukalns UGS.

M. Makars: "The most important task now is to continue the work we have started, ensuring the security of the natural gas infrastructure and the continuity of supply. One of the largest storage modernisation projects in the recent years will be completed soon. It will be fully finished in 2025, so the successful management of the project is one of my priorities this year."

It has already been reported that Rinalds Dimiņš, the former head of the Inčukalns UGS, joined the Conexus Management Board as of 1 January 2024.
