Withdrawal season of natural gas from Inčukalns underground gas storage is closed

2019 / 2020 withdrawal season of natural gas from Inčukalns underground gas storage is closed when according to operative information of unified natural gas transmission and storage operator JSC „Conexus Baltic Grid”, 11.3 TWh of natural gas has been withdrawn. Despite warm winter, withdrawn amount of gas is increased by 0.5% compared to last year influenced by establishment of common zone.

From beginning of season, system users injected 18.54 TWh into Inčukalns UGS. Injected volume is largest during last four years. Big demand for gas storage in Inčukalns is been driven by low price of natural gas as well as opening of common zone in January 1, 2020 where Estonia and Finland involved actively.

This season, the largest volume of natural gas of 142,5 GWh was withdrawn on January 31 this year. The demand for natural gas storage in Inčukalns UGS is expected to remain high for the next injection cycle 2020/2021.
