Emergency Preparedness Training to Take Place at the Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage Facility
“Conexus Baltic Grid” (“Conexus”) informs that on November 6, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, emergency preparedness training will be conducted at the Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage Facility (Inčukalns UGS) and in several locations within Krimulda Parish, Sigulda Municipality.
The purpose of the training is to test the effectiveness of response and consequence management measures in emergency situations, in cooperation with the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) and other institutions involved in disaster management.
During the training, a simulated emergency scenario will be enacted, requiring a large volume of water to be sourced from the Gauja River, approximately 3.8 kilometers from the incident site. The exercise will provide a practical opportunity to assess the readiness and cooperation between Inčukalns UGS, VUGD, the local municipality, and residents.
Throughout the training, “Conexus” and emergency service vehicles will be moving through Krimulda Parish, primarily using local roads such as Dārza Street–Kapūnas, Pulkas–V192, Pulkas–Kapūnas–Murjāņi, Almucas–Estrāde, a short section of the state road V92, and several private properties. “Conexus” draws attention to the fact that the training may cause traffic disruptions, and therefore encourages residents to be understanding or to consider alternative routes.
In accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 563, such training is organized once every three years, and this will be an extraordinary exercise aimed at enhancing high-level emergency response preparedness.
