“Conexus Baltic Grid” AS announces a procurement for the construction of the biogas injection point “Rēzekne”
With the aim of promoting the integration of renewable energy into Latvia’s energy system, the unified natural gas transmission and storage system operator “Conexus Baltic Grid” AS (“Conexus”) has announced an open negotiated procedure for the construction of the second publicly accessible biogas injection point in Latvia, which will be located in Rēzekne.
The planned biogas injection point “Rēzekne” will be located in Rēzekne municipality, Ozolmuiža parish, on the land plot named “Biometāna ievades punkts”. This will be the second publicly accessible biogas injection point. The first one — “Džūkste” — was opened on 28 July 2025 in Džūkste parish, Tukums municipality.
The announced open negotiated procedure covers full‑cycle construction works, including design, manufacturing and delivery of technological equipment, construction works, as well as installation of the injection point and connection to the natural gas transmission system. The contractor will also be required to ensure performance testing of the biogas injection point and provide personnel training. Upon completion of construction, the surrounding infrastructure will also be improved by building an access road and engineering communications.
After construction, the biogas injection point will operate in automatic mode, ensuring automated pressure reduction of the delivered biogas, gas heating, injection into the natural gas transmission system, as well as gas metering and quality control.
Tenderers may submit their offers for the construction of the biogas injection point until 18 March of this year.
Biomethane is an important source of renewable energy produced from organic waste and agricultural by-products. By integrating biomethane into the gas transmission system, “Conexus” promotes the use of green energy and supports sustainable development goals and more efficient use of local resources.
