"Conexus Baltic Grid" has concluded a cooperation agreement with the European leading natural gas transmission system operator "GRTgaz SA"

The unified natural gas transmission and storage system operator JSC "Conexus Baltic Grid” (Conexus) has concluded a cooperation agreement with the natural gas transmission system operator "GRTgaz SA” of France on attracting experts and consulting services for the implementation of the green initiative and other projects.

Conexus, following the European Green Deal action plan, has identified a course of development toward decarbonization. This requires research work involving experts with experience in research and innovation, including implementation of projects under the European Green Deal.

Ivars Ščerbickis, Head of Technical Development and Investment at Conexus: "The concluded cooperation with one of the leading European natural gas operators, which includes the Energy Research and Innovation Center, is a significant benefit to achieve the goals of Conexus, in particular towards the Green Deal. The new cooperation partner has high-level engineering expertise in the maintenance, innovation, research and development of natural gas networks, so I am sure that this exchange of knowledge and attraction of experienced experts allows introducing more innovative and effective solutions in the natural gas transmission and storage segments of Latvia. It will also contribute to the development of mitigation measures, thus approaching the global practices, particularly highlighting the decarbonization of the energy sector."

Cooperation is planned for projects at different levels of Green Deals, such as the introduction of biogas and hydrogen into the gas network, the reduction of environmental impacts, the provision of technical support and other projects, as well as on issues such as gas network, construction, maintenance, the integrity of gas pipelines, research and development (R&D).

"GRTgaz SA" is Europe's leading natural gas transmission system operator that manages the longest natural gas transmission network in Europe located in France, and is involved in the operation of the German natural gas transmission network.
