The Council supports the signing of inter-operators agreement regarding the GIPL project costs allocation

On Friday February 9, the Council of JSC Conexus Baltic Grid” supported unanimously the signing of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia inter-operators agreement on GIPL project costs allocation for implementation of the Poland-Lithuania interconnection (GIPL) of common concern offered by company’s Board.

The decision made by the Energy Regulators Cooperation Agency made on 11 August 2014 regarding the request of investments, including the allocation of costs of GIPL project of common concern prescribes that the Member States having a considerable common positive influence must pay full amount to the transmission system operator of the Member State who has negative influence from project implementation. JSC Conexus Baltic Grid shall participate in GIPL project implementation monitoring committee to ensure appropriate exchange of information and supervise the implementation of GIPL project.

Regulation (EU) No 347/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council (17 April 2013) on guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure includes also GIPL project that is regarded as part of Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan in gas (BEMIP Gas).
